Rapid Evolution of Invasive Species

My dissertation research investigates how American shad — a fish native to the Atlantic coast — rapidly adapted after being introduced to the Pacific Coast in the 1870s. Using “Haplotagging” linked-read sequencing to generate phased whole-genome data, I study the roles of founder effects, selective sweeps, and large chromosomal inversions in shaping the evolutionary history of invasive populations.

I am collaborating with the Genomics Innovation Hub at Cornell to further develop Haplotagging - a linked-read sequencing technology designed to generate population-scale genomic data while retaining haplotype information in non-model species.

American Shad Museomics
